I had a client this week whose cat went absolutely bonkers the moment the carrier came out… You’d think it was a spaceship! We had to use treats and a whole lot of calm energy just to get them in. Who knew a simple vet visit could turn into a Broadway performance? Anyone else have similar stories?
And i’ve had a similar situation where my cat went wild over the carrier. What worked for me was leaving it out in the living room a few days before the vet visit, so it became a familiar space instead of a torture device. It made a huge difference for her.
It’s so true! That panicked look when the carrier comes out drives me nuts. One thing that worked for me was to toss a few favorite toys inside a few days before the appointment, so it feels more like a cozy spot than a torture device. Have you tried that yet?
