The forelimb ‘knee’ corresponds to which human joint, and why does that matter for care? It’s the carpus — our wrist — and remembering that helps with boot choice and post-work care; carpal strains respond well to 15–20 minutes of cold therapy after a hard school, while true knees (stifles) and hocks need different support to prevent soreness.
Right — carpus=wrist, so during that ‘15–20 minutes’ I use ice boots with a thin wrap barrier and keep standing wraps below the joint so you don’t bind flexion. If your horse brushes, knee boots or brushing boots that cover the carpus prevent knocks, but stifles/hocks need their own support. Any heat or lingering puffiness over the dorsal carpus after a hard school gets a vet look to rule out a chip.
