When Clients Think Horses are Just Big Dogs

It’s always a laugh when clients come in and talk about their horses like they’re golden retrievers. Recently, one owner asked if she could teach her mare to ‘fetch’ a stick! I had to explain the concept of a ‘dropped horse’ but couldn’t resist a chuckle when she said, ‘Well, that sounds easy enough!’.

The confusion is real! I once had a client who insisted on bringing her mare to ‘dog training’ classes because she thought she could teach her to roll over… It’s hilarious until you realize one ‘drop’ could cost a lot more in vet bills! @VeterinaryComics nailed it when they said, ‘Horses just have bigger personalities.’.

It’s funny how some owners just can’t see the difference! I once had someone ask if she could use treats to train her horse to sit like a dog. I had to clarify: horses are more into grazing than commands! @egray12, sometimes it feels like we’re in a comedy sketch, doesn’t it?
