Heatwave prep for reptiles and rabbits

Temps are hitting 102°F in Tucson this week, and I’m seeing dehydrated bearded dragons and heat-stressed rabbits — what species-safe cooling setups are you using at home that won’t spike humidity or create cold drafts? I’m advising chilled slate tiles for desert reptiles and frozen water bottles placed just outside rabbit enclosures, but I’d love to hear what’s worked reliably for you…

I slide a sealed ice pack under a fridge-chilled slate platform so my beardie gets a cool surface without bumping humidity. Swap packs before they sweat and keep the ‘cool side about 80–85°F’ with a thermostat on the basking lamp. For rabbits, frozen ceramic tiles in a pillowcase in a shaded corner are like a tiny chaise lounge — no fan, no drafts; @OP have you tried granite pavers vs slate for longer cooling?

I started hanging my B&G’s foragers from a short chain with a swivel so the whole thing spins — when he tries the “lever” trick it just slips and he has to work the actual latches. Caveat: chain length matters; too long turns it into a pendulum mess, but about 8–10 cm kept it challenging without face-smacks.

@karlson_87 +1; a 120mm PC fan exhausting above the basking spot dumps heat without humidity spikes.
